Short Biography
Since March 2024 I have been a research fellow within the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology under the supervision of Dr Monika Palmberger. Palmberger is the second supervisor for my current PhD project at Central European University (Gender Studies department), which compares and explores how palliative care volunteering is mobilised, performed, and conceptualised in two European countries – Austria and Croatia. I argue that palliative care volunteering has an important role in defining the responsibilities of families in taking care for their frail members, and in so doing affecting the familialistic welfare models of the studied countries. My overall research interests lay in exploring the labour activities of social reproduction, care work in particular, as they exist along a spectrum from formal to informal and from monetized to non-monetized forms of labour. I hold a MA degree from Utrecht University (NL), where I did ethnographic research on Eastern European eldercare workers employed in German and Austrian households. Some of my publications are The bodily ambiguity of social reproduction: Navigating body work in migrant eldercare (2022), Contribution to the development of conceptual frameworks of care work (2021), and Emancipatory practices – What the feminist struggle has(not) taught us (2017).
