Short Biography

Suzana Jovicic studied Psychological and Psychiatric Anthropology (MSc) at Brunel University in London and did her PhD in Social and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Vienna as a DOC-team Fellow of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. For her dissertation "Scrolling, Swiping, Snapping: In-between Smartphone Practices & the Politics of Doing Nothing among Youths on the Margins of Vienna" she received the sowi:doc Award of the University of Vienna. Her research and teaching visits have been at UCL, James Cook University Singapore, RMIT, Monash University and University of Cologne. She worked in interdisciplinary projects at CSLEARN Educational Technologies and Computational Empowerment Lab at the University of Vienna and was a Post-DocTrack Fellow of the Austrian Academy of Sciences.

She currently works as a Lecturer and Researcher at the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Vienna. She is PI of the ESPRIT (FWF) project "Smartphone Addiction" and co-PI of the project We:Design (AK DigiFonds).
