Short Biography

Elaine Goldberg works as a visual ethnographer at the Vienna Visual Anthropology Lab of the Department for Cultural and Social Anthropology at the University of Vienna in the project "Sorgeräume". In collaboration with the Ludwig-Boltzmann-Gesellschaft, the Open Innovation in Science Impact Lab "Caring Communities for Future" is being visually explored and reflected. In addition to the artistic-ethnographic exploration of ‘care’ and ‘caring communities’, the focus will be on transdisciplinary research processes.

Previously, Elaine Goldberg completed her Master's degree in Science, Technology, Society with honors while working as a research assistant at the Department of Science and Technology Studies at the University of Vienna. Part of her Master's thesis is the film BUILDING SPACES – A sensory ethnography, which is shown at international film festivals.
She has a background in theater studies, language, literature and culture from the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich and Arts du Spectacle from the Université Rennes 2. During her studies she worked in the cultural sector – in film, festivals, theater, and public art spaces.
Today, her focus is on the artistic exploration of epistemic practices, especially the filmic exploration of spaces.
